Oats Haleem recipe

Here’s a recipe for Oats Haleem:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 1/2 cup split yellow moong dal (lentils)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • 4-5 cups water
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • Lemon wedges, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the steel cut oats and split yellow moong dal in water and soak them together for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pot or pressure cooker, heat the oil or ghee over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger and garlic paste and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Add the soaked oats and dal, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix everything well.
  5. Add 4-5 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot or pressure cooker, and cook until the oats and dal are soft and fully cooked. If using a pressure cooker, cook for 3-4 whistles.
  6. Once cooked, use an immersion blender or a hand blender to blend the haleem until it’s smooth and creamy.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, boiled eggs, fried onions and lemon wedges. Serve hot.
